Issue Open Badges 3.0 achievements with issuer, criteria and evidence context.
Start with the achievement model
Define the issuer, achievement, criteria and supporting evidence. State whether an award recognizes participation, completion or demonstrated competence. Programme governance supplies the meaning; a standard does not independently perform assessment.
Understand the relationship to W3C credentials
The W3C Verifiable Credentials model distinguishes issuer, holder and verifier roles. Check the supported securing mechanism and resources needed for proof and status verification; do not assume every implementation uses the same mechanism.
Evaluate issuer certification accurately
The 1EdTech registry is the public source for CertifyMe’s OB3 issuer certification scope. Issuer certification is not certification of every integration, receiver, skills relationship or security management system.
Use a programme-to-record architecture
Place award approval and maintenance within the institutional credential lifecycle. Keep assessment evidence attributable, review achievement-to-skill relationships, and preserve provenance when achievements contribute to a Comprehensive Learner Record.
Sharing and verification across compatible systems
An Open Badges 3.0 record carries structured achievement information and supported proof. Compatible receiving systems can interpret those fields and check applicable status, giving learners a way to present the award beyond its original interface. Exchange depends on the implemented formats and receiving-system support.
Review privacy and portability limits
An exported achievement may remain dependent on issuer keys and status resources. Control access to sensitive evidence, and distinguish a signed subject association from independent identity verification.
Use case evidence with its actual scope
Anonymous institutional cases demonstrate programme-specific implementation outcomes. They do not establish that OB3 itself guarantees employment, a cost-saving percentage or a particular receiving-system integration.
